To any students interested in filmmaking, who are applying for high school programs:
The High School of Art & Design Film Department is the leading FILM & VIDEO PRODUCTION program in New York City, training the next generation of diverse filmmakers. Our industry partnerships with organizations such as Netflix, HBO, BBDO, and Reelworks, make us a unique CTE Media, Technology, and Design program that truly helps young filmmakers prepare for careers in the movie, TV, and advertising industries.
To apply to our program, applicants must first create a myschools account if they do not already have one. This can be done by visiting https://www.schools.nyc.gov/HSAuditions
Next, applicants will need to create a Film Portfolio (consisting of a writing sample, a storyboard, and a short introductory video). Please be aware that we can only consider those applicants who have submitted Film Portfolios, and that the deadline for submitting your Film Portfolio is March 8th. For information on how to create a Film Portfolio, please visit this link:
(scroll to the bottom for the film department portfolio)
You can also access the information by visiting https://www.schools.nyc.gov/HSAuditions and scrolling down to select FILM.
Once the portfolio is created, applicants will need to upload it using the Virtual Audition Submission Tool.
The virtual auditions (Part 2) has been cancelled due to the time constraint in submission of materials.
Thank you, and we look forward to reviewing your portfolio.
